Volunteer Profiles: Steve Keyes (Chairman)

Sport has been a major part of my life, playing in football teams since the age of 7 until 20 years later coming to halt due to a knee injury. More teams sports followed, then onto running marathons around the world, including New Zealand, South Africa and America.

Being injury free, I thought it was time to try table tennis after seeing a poster at my local leisure centre aimed at the grey hair brigade. Enjoyed it straight away, but soon reallised that the game was about spin. There was a lot of coaching in my area of Harrow but not for adults, so I visited every club in the area, until I found Hillingdon.

In 2013 the chairman stepped down, so I stepped up and have enjoyed seeing the club grow since then.
