News Update - February 2010
Monday Evening Sessions
The Hillingdon Community Trust has given HTTC a grant for the second year to help cover the cost of renting courts and paying coaches specifically for our Monday Advanced Coaching sessions.
These sessions have been highly successful. This has been proven with the improved results in the Wembley and Harrow League and in the National Junior and Cadet leagues. Despite this, it has been felt that this session can be greatly improved to benefit even more players and attract more club members.
To help us, Aaron Fennell (ETTA regional coach – London Area) visited this session on the 1st February 2010. He was impressed with the club but agreed that we would benefit a great deal more with a major reorganisation of this session. He has agreed to attend three of these sessions to help us reorganise.
Monday 8th March Aaron Fennell will restructure and supervise the Advanced coaching on a minimum of six tables. This will leave any remaining tables for Club coaches not taking part in the Advance coaching to help with beginners.
Monday 15th March DaQing Tong will supervise the coaching session with Aaron observing and passing on his advice.
Monday 22nd March Radavan Zivokvic will supervise the coaching session with Aaron observing and passing on his advice.
From this point on the control of the sessions will alternate between DaQing and Radavan.
Please can players note the following changes that will apply from 8th March 2010.
1. Players must arrive and be ready to start at 6.00 prompt. Once the coaching session has started players that arrive late will only be able to help with the beginners on the spare tables.
2. Coaching will cease at 7.45 allowing time for cool down exercise and the packing up of the equipment.
3. For non members of HTTC there will be a fee of £1.00.
NB. This is a coaching session and not general practice. We have three excellent coaches and it is up to us to get the best coaching from them.
DaQing was in the top ten junior National rankings back in China where Table Tennis is the National Sport and is currently playing in the British league.
Radavan was a top European player and plays in the County league representing Middlesex
Mo is a top class player. Unfortunately, due to injury he is unable to take part in competitive play. Despite this he has a great deal to offer us a coach.

The Move
The new Hillingdon Sports centre in Uxbridge can accommodate the time slots for our current sessions but are unable to store any of our equipment. As they only have three tables we are unable to accept their current offer. Once the new centre is up and running properly they will look again into the possibilities of finding storage for our equipment.
The new centre has had a soft opening on the weekend 20th / 21st Feb and the official opening is expected for the 23rd March 2010.
The Hillingdon Sports Development has guaranteed us a place at the new Botwell lane centre and currently investigating our storage requirements.
General
Please can members observe a suitable dress code for playing Table Tennis at all sessions especially the advanced coaching sessions on Mondays? Footwear should be well fitting sports shoes with soles that do not mark the Sports Hall floor. Sports clothing should be comfortable, well fitting and allow for freedom of movement. Not tight fitting jeans with low waists which inhibit agility and speed of movement. Many of the ‘Fashion Statement’ Trainers are not suitable for playing Table Tennis and are considered to be unsafe.
Please can members make sure that all empty drink bottles and rubbish is placed in the waste bin located in the lobby area?
Club T shirts are available at £5 each.
